Position Overview:
The OE Junior lead teacher will be a part of a team that promotes excellence in online teaching and learning through research and best practices. The qualified candidate will be a highly creative subject matter expert in EFL and excels at teaching children virtually. In addition to conducting high quality live sessions on regular basis, the lead teacher will serve as a role model and a point of contact for the teacher mentors and general teaching team at Open English Jr. Lead teachers will analyze current training and certification practices and make recommendations for improvement as well as assist with implementation of various pilots with the goal to improve the student and teacher experience overall. This position will also provide subject matter expertise to the OE Junior content team to improve the product and instructional experience for children. This position will work closely with the training and quality teams as well as the general Open English teaching team.
 
Essential Job Duties:
  • Continually research, assess, evaluate and report on trends in successful teaching techniques, common problem areas and propose solutions.
  • Evaluate current and future training, certification materials and processes; make recommendations for improvement in instruction.
  • Conduct new student orientation meetings virtually.
  • Make OE Junior Program content recommendations. Propose new ideas and activities for synchronous and asynchronous learning activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in implementing pilots, collect data and report on findings.
  • Observe and advise on performance trends based on the QM results and make recommendations on CPD (Continued Professional Development) topics.
  • Create content for trainings and CPD series as needed.
  • Conduct webinars on best practices, new instructional ideas, with new teachers etc.
  • Conduct high quality live session on consistent basis. (20 hours per week)
  • Serve as a role model and point of contact for teacher mentors and OE Jr teachers in general
  • Monitor OE Junior Slack channels and respond to issues or escalate to management.
  • Regularly review QMs completed by mentors and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Participate in team and one on one meetings with team members and teacher mentors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, learning and development, or other related field
  • Teaching English as a Second Language certificate (TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, etc.)
  • Experience teaching English to children (K-12)
  • Native English speaker
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Proficient in office software applications - for example, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Productivity apps like Docs and Sheets, etc.
  • Available to work during Miami business hours
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Comfortable working with remote teams
  • Effective at problem solving
  • Creative, innovative, can-do mindset

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in education, learning and development, child psychology or related field.
  • Experience coaching teachers
  • K-12 teaching certificate
  • Experience with EFL content development for children
