Position Overview:
Open English is seeking an experienced online learning design professional for the position of Program Manager to join the Academic team at either our global headquarters office in Coconut Grove, Florida, or at our office in Bogota, Colombia.  You will be responsible for managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of world class online programs for global populations.  This includes the coordination of multiple course production teams ensuring the application of best practices for learning design and online course production, implementation of efficient and scalable workflows and processes, management of project milestones and deadlines, encouragement of innovation and creativity in instruction and design, and utilization of data for regular and informed curricular improvements.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate course production teams to create quality learning experiences that include interactive and engaging learning activities, video production, formative self-assessments, and summative assessments designed to measure learning.
  • Implement best practices in online instructional design and current theoretical frameworks to ensure the development of world class learning experiences for students.
  • Develop and refine online course production processes and workflows.
  • Conduct detailed quality assurance reviews of newly developed course content.
  • Establish productive, efficient and clear communication lines with course production teams.
  • Stay current on the state of the market in relevant fields to ensure timely updates and revisions to assigned programs.
  • Work closely with academic administration and course production teams to identify new instructional topic opportunities related to assigned programs.
  • Manage workflow and timelines to ensure hard deadlines are met.
  • Utilize multiple sources of data and information to plan and coordinate informed and data-driven improvements to course content and student experience.
  • Identify and prepare training and job aids for the academic advising teams.
  • Create and update course assets utilizing course authoring tools, basic HTML5 programming skills, and familiarity with the learning management system platform.
  • Work with tutors to troubleshoot and quickly solve identified issues in the online courseroom.
  • Work with the production and technology teams to test new technology solutions and integrations.
  • Review and approve all curriculum elements developed by course production teams
  • Keep abreast of emerging educational technologies that can be utilized to improve the student learning experience.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.  Advanced degree in education, instructional design, instructional technology, curriculum and instruction, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience designing and delivering online learning experiences for adult learners.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key learning design concepts such as outcomes-based curriculum development, competency-based programs, assessment design, and pedagogy for adult learners.  Experience developing curriculum for English language learning for a K-12 audience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of key educational technologies such as learning management systems, course authoring tools, adaptive learning, and HTML5.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with various teams simultaneously.
  • Extremely organized with attention to detail.
  • Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-based, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Native English language fluency.
  • Proficiency or fluency in a second language is preferred.
