Position Overview:
The Curriculum and Instruction Department at Open Education (OE) is seeking a Curriculum Coordinator to join the Academic team.  Under general supervision of the Program Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring daily and weekly content is uploaded for online publishing, improving the quality of instructional content, and building and updating new EFL content.  This role will require rapid and accurate publication of daily and weekly materials, ability to write and create excellent EFL content to teach with in online environments, and an extreme attention to detail for editing.
The Curriculum Coordinator is expected to communicate on a daily basis with the other members of the Curriculum and Instruction team. This person will coordinate as needed with members of the Technical Development, Operations, Curriculum, and Creative Teams in order to develop, review, test, and improve facets of the Open English online learning platform.
  • Write clear, concise, and accurate English content for use in live classes that promotes learning and engages students.
  • Read content and correct for errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, native language use, and check the content for readability, style, and agreement with OE guidelines.
  • Organize lesson packages according to a schedule.
  • Input daily content into LCMS (Learning content management system)
  • Input text and graphics into publishing software.
  • Revise layouts and make corrections as necessary.
  • Submit or upload final files for online publishing.
  • Load content into Academic Admin Portal.
  • Assist in the development of new products as needed.
  • Cross-train with other members of the Curriculum and Instruction team to enable consistent production of all Academic Content.
  • Maintain updated reference materials, including but not limited to: style guides, content examples, templates, and daily schedules.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Open English learning platform, brand, company policies and goals, internal communication systems, and the student population.
  • Adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, foreign language teaching, English language and linguistics, or a related field.
  • TESOL certification or similar.
  • 4+ years’ experience teaching English.
  • Experience as an editor and/or writer, preferably in English.
  • Have excellent editing skills in American English (grammar, spelling, and punctuation)required.
  • Be very familiar with and have the ability to apply the CEFR to instructional material.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Skype, Dropbox, and an ability to quickly master various online communication and storage tools
  • Familiarity with learning management platforms or learning content authoring tools
  • Familiarity with Adobe Connect a plus
  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems
  • Must be good at scheduling and prioritizing tasks in order to be ready for publication deadlines
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-based, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Display excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with different departments.
  • Have an excellent eye for detail and be very accurate in the work produced.
  • Employ excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills especially with remote teams.
  • English fluency required.
